Tablet PC vs eReader

Will the Tablet PC replace the eReaders?

Tablet PC vs eReaderLet’s compare the Tablet PC vs eReader. I have a couple of book shelves full of books that I have gathered over the years.  Any one of these eReader devices can hold my entire library of books with room for much more.  I don’t think we have seen the end of the paper book, however, if I’m deciding between two books and one is paper and the other is digital, I’m buying the digital version.

But, these devices will do more than just display books.  They can also display magazines, newspapers, and other documents such as PDF files, Word documents, etc.  So, I can finally get rid of that pesky, unreliable news paper carrier.  I can read the paper without walking out to the curb and fishing my newspaper out of the gutter.  And my magazines won’t be dog-eared and torn before I have a chance to read them.  In fact, I’ll have the magazine downloaded and completely read before it shows up in the mail for my friends.

The eReader turns out to be this year’s (2011) best selling Christmas gift.  However, did they buy too soon?  Will they be wishing they spent the money on a fully functional Tablet PC instead?  I think so, however, I’m a technology person that must have the latest and greatest toy.

Each of these devices are great to have depending on your requirements. The only real advantages the eReader devices have are:

  • Anti-glare screen that is easy to read from in any lighted conditions;
  • Battery life is much longer; and
  • Price is much less.

Other than that, an Android or Windows 7 Tablet PC can do anything an eReader can do plus so much more.
